What is Genomics?

The study of genes and their functions.

How is Genomics Used in the GLEAMS Project?

To examine gene expression of organisms in the Kalamazoo River Superfund site (mainly with carp and frogs) to help characterize the health effects from exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). The data found through genomic research will aid decision making in the clean-up process of the Superfund site in the Kalamazoo River watershed.

What is a MicroArray?

An array of DNA or protein samples that can be hybridized with probes to study patterns of gene expression.
